Hi Ben, Thank you for your kind, courteous and prompt reply. Initially, I was getting messages such as, 'Cannot install the WindowsInstaller,' and simply, 'stopped installation.' Naturally, I had already installed language packs for Korean and Russian.
Here is the solution that ultimately worked and solved some other hangul (native Korean script) recognition issues. 1) Go to Clock, Language, Region 2) Select Region 3) Click on the Administrative tab 4) Select Language for non-Unicode programs 5) Change system locale to Korean After which, the Haansoft application installation proceeded very smoothly and satisfactorily. Again, thank you for your assistance and thoughtful research. Warmest regards, Chris.
I know this post is pretty old, but were you ever able to get your hands on the mac version of Haansoft's 한글? I know that for a while there was a HWP2006.dmg file along with a file called '한글2006 시리얼.txt' or something like that being shared in clubboxes, but I lost my copy ages ago, and haven't had any luck finding another. By the way, thanks for this post!
The info in your screencaps+captions opened up worlds of new uses for HWP for me that I didn't know about because of my very elementary Korean; textbooks just don't teach the terminology that one needs to be competent on a computer, especially not with a complex program like this. I'd kill for some good English tutorials/lessons on the subject. That seems to be the way of things with most mac shares. You must be an awesome person to try for a month to get something that you had no use for. On behalf of all us beggars, I thank you for that! Given that I can't purchase it or download it, I think I'm going to give up on finding the mac version of Haansoft 한글.
Honestly, I use Linux far more than I do OS X anyway. If Haansoft had come out with a Linux version of HWP, it'd probably have gotten more support than the weird OS they've come up with (to compete with a market filled with freeor at the very least, cheap Linux operating systems; how dumb is that?).
I mean, Ubuntu Linux with Korean localization + HWP would make me so very, very happy. I'd be willing to pay for that kind of awesomeness (as long as it still cost way less than MS Office). I'm sure that there are other people out there who feel the same.
